Explore Siem Reap in 72 hours – Part 1

Almost everyone travels to Cambodia to explore Siem Reap and to visit Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world. Unarguably, this majestic temple is the highlight of everyone’s trip, but there’s more to Cambodia’s famous temple town than “just” this temple. Embark on a journey with us as we take you around in Siem Reap.

Day 1

Explore Siem Reap - Preah Khan - Temples in Siem Reap - AngkorUpon arrival at Siem Reap International Airport, you’ll be welcomed by our team and escorted to the hotel. After check-in and a quick freshening-up in your uniquely designed guest room, the exploration begins. Your first afternoon you would want to go to the temples, so we recommend buying a three-day temple pass, which costs USD 62 and allows you to visit the temples three days within a one week window. Once you’ve got your ticket, you’re set to visit the massive Angkor Archeological Park for an afternoon of temple exploration. We recommend you visit Preah Khan, Neak Pean and Ta Som, which all three are part of the grand circuit tour, before heading to Pre Rup temple for sunset.

When the sun has set you return back to the hotel, where you’ll enjoy a drink at The Glide Bar, the hotel’s rooftop bar. Reminisce about your first day in Angkor while enjoying Barang’s favorite cocktails. We’re sure you fall in love with the ambiance and want to stay for dinner too, before calling it a day to get a good night rest and prepare for a super early wake-up call.

Day 2

The following morning our tuk tuk driver will take you to Angkor Wat for sunrise. According to most guests, this really is one of the highlights of their trip, so don’t forget to bring along your camera. After sunrise, stretch your legs and explore the mesmerizing UNESCO-listed temple, and re-energize with a picnic-like breakfast on-the-go, prepared by the hotel before you left this morning. Then continue your temple exploration with the famed Bayon Temple, also known as the temple with the smiling faces, and Ta Prohm Temple, which you might recognize from the TombRaider movie.

Explore Siem Reap - Angkor Wat Sunrise - Angkor - Siem Reap SunriseHead back to the hotel for some afternoon relaxation, which you absolutely deserve after getting up so early. Have your lunch poolside and relax and recharge for the remainder of the day. Go out for an early dinner; we can recommend several local restaurants featuring traditional Khmer and fusion cuisine, such as Malis, Chanrey Tree and Viroth’s. After dinner, you’re going to the Phare Circus, Siem Reap’s most unique, authentic, top-rated evening entertainment. The young circus artists will blow you away with their energy, emotion, enthusiasm, and talent and this, without a doubt, is going to be a night to remember.

You’re already halfway through your stay and there is still so much more to see and to do, you wished you’d booked a few nights extra.
