Cocktail O’clock at The Glide Bar

The Aviary Hotel’s enthusiastic bartender knows his way around a cocktail. When you’re heading out to The Glide Bar, Barang is the guy who will help you get loose.

Situated in the city center of Siem Reap, Cambodia’s renowned temple town, The Glide Bar is the hotel’s rooftop bar, where guests can take in the city’s vibrant atmosphere or overlook the pool, while enjoying a bite and a hand-crafted cocktail.

The man behind the cocktails is Barang, a young but experienced barman who recently joined the team after working as a bartender at a local restaurant. “I love my job here, as I get to meet new people every day, most of them here on holiday. It’s fairly easy to get a conversation going, simply by asking how they spent their day. Our guests come here to sit back, relax and enjoy a cocktail after a day of exploring the famous Angkor Wat temple. Most of them are so excited about it, they can’t stop sharing their experiences.”

When asking Barang for his favorite cocktail he instantly says, “Jungle Bird”. He often recommends this cocktail to his guests as it’s a very refreshing cocktail, with a little bit of a bitter twist. This mix of Rum, Campari, Fresh Pineapple Juice, Fresh Lime Juice and Cane Sugar indeed is a great concoction to enjoy while reminiscing about a wonderful day.

Another popular drink is the Canary 75, a combination of Gin, Lemongrass, Cane Sugar, and Prosecco. The blend of Gin with Lemongrass results in such a delightful smell that you want to order a second round even before you’ve actually tasted it. “Sometimes people find it hard to make a choice, so it’s a good thing that every day it’s happy hour from 6 PM to 7 PM . When it’s Cocktail O’clock at The Glide Bar, all cocktails are 50% off during this time, so people can try both for the price of one.”

This 4-star hotel in Siem Reap is located very centrally in town and is easily accessible, making it a perfect destination to relax, unwind and reflect on a day full of unforgettable memories, while enjoying one of Barang’s cocktails. But don’t forget to order your second drink, and ask Barang to share travel tips for your next day, because there’s more to Siem Reap than temples. “When guests ask me for recommendations on where to go, I always tell them to visit Mount Kulen, where they can enjoy nature and swim under the waterfall, or to book a sunset boat trip on the Tonle Sap, South-East Asia’s largest lake.”

Cheers to many more cocktails, Barang!
