Fumizen Dishes to Keep an Eye Out For

Building the Hype for Fumizen’s Japanese Fare

Opening in March 2020, Fumizen is en route to becoming a part of The Aviary family. As a result, we’re sitting beside the pool drooling over thoughts of sushi and cocktails until the fateful day arrives. (Just kidding…we’ve got plenty of goodies to tide us over thanks to our very own collection of eateries.) Whatever the case, we’re excited for Fumizen’s Japanese fare and want to build the hype for you, too. Here are some killer plates you’ll want to know all about when it comes time for Fumizen to open their doors at The Aviary Hotel.

Fumizen Tonkatsu Roll – Katsu-style pork loin amidst a thoughtful curation of fresh and authentic goodies. Wrapped in dried seaweed and Japanese rice. Topped with sesame seeds for multi-layered essence. Served with pickled ginger and wasabi for the flavor lovers of the bunch. This is sushi that deserves some heartfelt devouring.

Miso Eggplant – Miso is not just for soup, nor is it reserved for side dishes. This mainstage ingredient goes great with a hunk of hearty, grilled eggplant. Dengaku miso sauce and ground sesame seeds go hand in hand. And there’s fresh asparagus for topping, because Fumizen knows no bounds.

Cold Green Tea Soba Noodles – A concoction if there ever was one. A cold dish for those hot Cambodian days. Artfully crafted green tea noodles, boiled until tender, with all the fixings to go along. Dried seaweed, fried garlic and green onion. Wasabi for good luck. Goes best with a visit to the pool (after digestion, of course).

Pork Sukiyaki Hotpot – Pork belly, rice noodles and a whole lotta love. Lemongrass for essence. Poached egg for sustenance. Onions, mushrooms and more. Order the set for access to rice, miso and pickles. Or, if you want to keep your options open, go for an a la carte bowl.

Ginger Fried Pork Set – Ginger is rooted in the soul. See what we did there? Anyway, it’s also rooted in this fried pork ensemble. Ginger sauce shawls thinly sliced pork loin for utmost flavor. Cabbage salad on the side for balance, because you shouldn’t have too much of a good thing.

Fried Camembert Cheese – Two words: cheese please. Camembert cheese coated in Japanese-style panko breadcrumbs at fried, because how else would they do it? This creamy cow’s milk cheese is everything you never knew you needed. Served with cabbage, lime and homemade, tangy ketchup. Because Fumizen never does anything halfway.

Beef Katsu Set – In short, a platter of tasty goodness. As for the long version: deep-friend, panko-crusted beef loin. Steaming rice. Cabbage with a bite to it. Miso soup to wash it all down. Pickles for that extra Japanese flair. Gosh, we can’t wait for Fumizen to open.

Fumizen Meal Set – It has Fumizen in the name, so it must be good. Also, it has tasty bites on the plate, like deep-fried, panko-crusted pork tenderloin, salmon sashimi and smoked mackerel. Served with rice, miso soup and pickles for a well-rounded meal that you just can’t pass up on.

Dishes That Live Up to the Hype

Sure, we may be creating a lot of excitement over food that has yet to prove itself to the Siem Reap crowd. However, we wouldn’t share the details if we weren’t certain that Fumizen could rise to the occasion. Book your stay at The Aviary Hotel, because Fumizen and its plethora of killer platters is coming to town.
